9555 and 9575 Docking Stations

Affected Users:  Beam Iridium 9555 and Iridium Extreme (9575) Docking Station Users

We have received reports that Iridium handsets (9555 and Extreme ) when upgraded to the latest  firmware version (HT17001/HL17001) and docked in a compatible Beam Communications docking station, may display the error messages “USB Cable DISCONNECTED/USB Cable CONNECTED” preventing normal operation.  Other issues such as the handset rebooting or switching off while docked may also occur.

Therefore, we are recommending to suspend firmware updates to the 9555 (HT17001) and Extreme  (HL17001) handsets until this issue has been resolved.  Please keep the 9555 and Extreme handset firmware versions at HT15002 and HL15002, respectively.

Our engineering team are working with Iridium to resolve this issue and provide a solution as a priority.  When a solution is available, an announcement will be made via our Support mailing list.
